Girls Fight Back

Girls Fight Back! (for young women in high school & college)

Girls Fight Back teaches young women to live safe, strong and empowered lives...and to never make choices stemming from fear. Beginning with the tragic story of murdered Eastern Illinois University student Shannon McNamara, we create a powerful impact upon students in regards to the prevalence of violence against women. However, the darkness ends there. We move on to explain 3 steps to a safe and empowered life: Trust Intution. Be a Bad Victim. Learn to Fight! We explain ways to reduce the risk of violence, how to understand intuition, the best ways to live as a cybersafe, strategies to secure dorms/apartments from home invasions and how to address violence in social settings. (dating violence, acquaintance rape, predatory drugs, etc.) Then it’s interactive time! Regardless of crowd size, students stand up and learn verbal de-escalation, strong body language, an effective 3-part self-defense formula, ground fighting strategies and how to use improvised weapons. Students Fight Back

Students Fight Back! (for young men & women in college)

Campus violence is not just a woman’s issue and men aren’t always the perpetrators. Crime and violence is a campus concern, with a campus solution. Students Fight Back is for male and female college students, in an attempt to bring the campus together as a community to end violence at America’s universities. In this program, students learn how to be a hard target of crime, how to secure dorms/apartments from break-ins, how to detect violent people, trust intuition and look out for the safety of fellow students. Then comes the fun part – interactive physical self-defense instruction! Regardless of crowd size, get ready to laugh, learn, feel empowered and become your own bodyguard.

Fight Back on Spring Break! (for young men & women in college)

It’s halfway through second semester and students are gearing up for the long-awaited, MTV inspired Spring Break vacation. But the false ideology of whatever happens on spring break stays on spring break is becoming increasingly dangerous. In March 2006, CNN flew our Founder/CEO, Erin Weed, to Daytona Beach for a special report on Spring Break. She had the chance to get an in-depth look at what’s happening on spring break and the danger behind seemingly innocent situations. In this program, we will offer proactive strategies for: party situations, hotel security, avoiding date rape drugs, air & car travel and the top 5 ways to avoid crime targeted at tourists. Your speaker will also demonstrate her favorite self-defense techniques that could be used to escape a violent confrontation. Using our signature down-to-earth humor, we remind students to have a blast on spring break…but to do so safely. For more info, go to www.SafeSpringBreak.org

Greeks Fight Back! (for fraternities and sororities)

Personal safety and self-defense expert, Erin Weed, believes the strong numbers and influence of Greeks on campus could save lives. In 2001, Erin’s sorority sister was murdered at Eastern Illinois University, and the Greek community banded together to support one another. It made her wonder...what if we joined together in a PROACTIVE way, to prevent violence before it ever happened in the first place? This program educates Greek students about campus crime, and what they can do to keep themselves and the people they care about safe. Topics discussed include: how to trust intuition, ways to intervene as a bystander, activism ideas for creating a safe campus, the dangerous relationship between violence and alcohol, practical tips for avoiding all sorts of violence by living as a “bad victim” and finally how to fight back if necessary. That’s the fun part! The entire crowd stands up and learns simple and effective self-defense techniques that anyone can use, regardless of gender or size. Fraternity men and sorority women can lead the charge in cultivating safe campuses for all students...and we will show you how.
